What is Procrastination?
People procrastinate when they put off activities that could and, in many cases should, be done now. Procrastinators defer the activities until a later time. The term does not apply to people who have two equally important things to do and must pick one to do first. Rather, it applies to people that have tasks or activities with clear priorities and put off the most important task or activity needlessly for the purpose of delaying it.
You can’t start/finish the work that you need to do: First, do you really know how to do it? Do you have the materials needed? Are you afraid that the result won’t be good? Or are you comparing it with somebody else’s work or even your own previous work? Are you bored with the job? Do you think the amount of work that you will do is not going to be worth it?
You may also want to consider a "Pros and Cons" sheet. Simply draw a line down the center of a piece of paper. On the left side, write down all the reasons for procrastinating on a particular task. Now, on the right side, write down all of the benefits of getting started and getting the job done. Once you can see how the "Pros" outweigh the "Cons" it should be easier to get started on the project.
Manage your time better.
When you don’t procrastinate, you free up time for all the other things you want to do. Acting on things that need to get done, clears the clutter from your life, mind and schedule.
